The Reinhardt Eagles Men’s Cross-Country team opened up their season at Jacksonville State University on August 31, 2018. The Eagles, coming off an AAC conference championship high last season, made positive strides to kick the season off at the JSU Struts Season Opener.
Reinhardt finished 7th place overall in a field that included five NCAA D-1 programs, and seven NCAA D-2 universities. The scoring for this meet was unusual with the D-1 programs being scored separately from the other programs. The Reinhardt Eagles managed to place 3rd overall out of eleven programs.
Reinhardt made history at the JSU Struts Season Opener. They broke a standing team average record in the 5k. The team ran an exceptional average of 17:03 to set a new school record. The old record of 17:04 was set at Wingedfoot Cross-Country Invitational in 2016.
Individual Performances:
(Event 2-Mens 5K)
- Jackson Helfrich- 15:38-overall 2nd place
- Jose Diaz- 16:56- overall 28th place
- Brian Vincent- 16:56- overall 29th place

- Austin Brennan- 17:58- overall 59th place
Junior Jackson Helfrich ran exceptionally well. The experienced runner managed a second place finish.
“The best Jackson has looked on a cross-country course in his time at Reinhardt,” Coach Jordan Turner.
