During the off season the Reinhardt Lady Eagles made sure they stayed in shape for their 2014 season, preseason games, and scrimmages which are coming up in less than one week. The first scrimmage will be held on October 16th against Cleveland State, and the second scrimmage is on October 24th against University of North Georgia, both at Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia at 6pm.
The Lady Eagles preseason consists of workouts at least once a day, Monday through Friday. Starting on Monday they have 6:30 am devotion, 7 am weights, followed by 4 pm conditioning. Tuesday is 7 am conditioning. Wednesday is 8 am weights. Thursday is the 7 am mile program. Lastly, Friday they have 6 am conditioning leading into 7 am weights. All the daily workouts do not including the other team workouts, and open gym which is held every night at eight.
This 2014 season the team consist of 13 talented players some new players and some returning; making this season look to be an interesting and competitive one for the competition.
Some players to watch for would be senior Carmen Lockhart 6’5 post player who dominates the post on defense and offense. Senior Brooke Thomas a one and two guard, great defender who also gets to the basket and can drain the 3-point shots. Senior April Besley a forward who hustles throughout the entire game retrieving rebounds on defense and shooting on offense. Junior Lauren Mullianx a guard who never quiets and always takes the shot and is an excellent shooter. Sophomore Erika Woodfin a guard who is all over the court throughout the entire game and is a lights out shooter. Lastly, watch for sophomore Payton Smith a guard, who players her heart out attacking the ball every chance she gets and dominating on defense against the opponent.
For the opening game of the season for the Lady Eagles take on Bob Jones University with home court advantage on Thursday, October 30th at 6pm.
