This Thursday evening, the Reinhardt Univerity Women’s Volleyball team played their conference opener in at home against Point University in Waleska (Ga.) and won the game 3-0 (25-16,25-13,25-23).
Followed by a big crowd and a lot of energy coming from the stands, the Lady Eagles dominated the court with a solid performance and added another win to their 6-1 record. This was the fifth consecutive win for the team of Coach Goodhind this season.
After the first two dominant sets of the night, the Skyhawks pushed and both teams created a thrilling final set, which the Eagles won close with 25-23 in front of their home crowd. Carlee Baxter was with 22 assists a key-player of the night, supported by Erin Marroquin with a total of 16 assists. The strong defensive performance of Shadaisha Summerall and Brittany Taksas (total of 7 blocks) was another factor for the victory. Freshman Mar Vives (13 digs) and Senior Tessa Colden (10 digs) got a total of 23 digs in the game.
A perfect mix of experience and audacity was the subtle differences which let the Reinhardt Eagles sore higher that night than the Point Skyhawks.
