Auburn Montgomery got off to a hot start in the 1st quarter as they made 5-12 three pointers clinging to a 21-10 lead after one quarter of play. Jordan Brewster had the hot hand for the Warhawks going 3-5 from downtown in the period.
West Georgia started to make their run in the 2nd period, led by Ashley Lee who really started to assert herself. She was a nightmare for the defense scoring in a variety of different ways, tallying up 15 points in the 2nd quarter alone. Jordan Brewster stayed hot, draining 2 more deep balls in the period. The Wolves responded to the first punch by responding by winning the 2nd quarter 24-14, which took us into halftime with a close score of 35-34.
The 3rd period saw momentum swinging all over the place, both teams making inspiring runs. The 3rd ended in a similar fashion which saw a 1 point difference on the scoreboard, UWG led going into the 4th 54-53.
The Wolves took of starting the 4th quarter on a 14-2 run to take a commanding 68-55 lead with 6 minutes to play. The Wolves intense full-court pressure defense was able to wear down AUM and take them out of rhythm forcing multiple turnovers on consecutive possessions. The Wolves dominated for the majority of the 2nd half and ended winning by a score of 78-66.
Ashley Lee impressed all game finishing with 25 points and 6 rebounds on 8-14 from the field. The impact of Edley Drawhorn was felt in the entire 2nd half in a major way, she finished with a monster stat line of 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 steals! She brought the energy the entire 2nd half and surged her team to victory.
Victoria Morales put in a good effort for the Warhawks, totaling 15 points and 6 rebounds on the night. Jordan Brewster and Catlin Carter finished with 15 points a piece.
